AFAIK, it's got the same connector as the later 166's that allowed up to
64MB, but the BIOS won't allow it. I'm PRAYING somebody sometime released
a fix for the BIOS to goto 64. Not even W95 works proper on 40, but 64
works ok. It seems it's just short. Nice design :( It was made after 95
too.

Most likely, the laptop had 8MB built in with a 32MB expansion slot.
The 32MB is probably hard-wired in the motherboard/chipset design, not
something a BIOS upgrade would fix, although it's possible. But I
wouldn't count on it. Dell would probably have any BIOS update on
their support website.

There is a slot AFAIK, so not hardwired.
You are correct about the 8MB being on the board and the 32 being a
chip(s).
Dell's got nothing, and obviously never will at this point, so I was
hoping for a 3rd party fix or a hack for the BIOS.

Windows 95B works with 4 megs RAM, on a 386SX, but IE likes at least 16.
>It seems it's just short. Nice design :( It was made after 95 too.
40 megs is ample for 95.

I'd like to see anybody try!
It's definitely the IE.
16's not even close to what it guzzles though with everything else
running.
It'll suck that just in swap file space, not including cache.

Maybe if you only run one app. at a time, but it's TORTURE with a
firewall, email, PIM, AV, DUN, and IE trying to run at the same time.
Actually, I should correct that, IE is torture. Everything else is just
very annoying. No other browser runs faster either, not even slick small
things like Off By One.
It's the RAM, sure of it.
