I've had my Orange SPV C550 for about a month now, and have been thinking
there's something wrong with the MP3 playback, but couldn't quite figure it
out. Now I have:

When playing back MP3s, it plays about 1m05s of the track every minute!!!
It's like watching a

Surely this couldn't have slipped past WMP 10 beta testing, so I'm assuming
it must be a peculiarity of the SPV. Has anyone else noticed this, and is
there a solution? Now that I've figured it out it's really annoying me!

I don't think there's an option on WMP for adjusting the speed of MP3's
or Video. I used another program for divx videos and they have that
option but I have never seen that option on WMP. Maybe if you reset
your settings to default it would fix it, or maybe you have a lemon.
Worse comes to worse just call your carrier and tell them your phone
isn't working and make them send you a replacement.

Try playing the same file from the SD Card, from the internal flash
drive (IPAQ Storage, don't remember how it is called exactly on ipaqs,
i
own Asus A716) or from SDRAM memory (My Documents folder will do) on
your IPaq. If it plays slower from all these locations, then the issue

is with the Pocket PC, not the card.

Hi,

Thanks for your replies. The problem is the same whether the MP3 is played
back from internal storage or the 512Mb SD card.

Does anyone else have an SPV C550 and are seeing the same problem through
WMP 10? Start a track and start a stopwatch at the same time, then see how
much of the track has been played after 1 minute on the stopwatch. My SPV
says 1m05s every time! Even better - start a track on a PC and an SPV at the
same time, and listen to the higher speed and pitch on the SPV!

Thanks,

Chris.

If you played a 44100 Hz (sampling rate) file
at 48000 Hz, you'd run about 8% fast. That's
about what you have there: 65 seconds indicated
for 60 seconds clock-on-the-wall time (about 8%
fast). It's probably the device and/or firmware
itself, not WiMP, but that's easy enough to find
out for sure (try something else). The memory
card won't have anything to do with this. Check
several different mp3s, from different encoders.

I'll check out iPlay on an smt5600 (basically
a c500)... 60 seconds indicated is 60 seconds
wall time. m4a: no problem. mp3: no problem.
Not that I needed to check both in my case.
WiMP (v10 on smt5600) on the mp3: 60 seconds is
60 seconds.
