I've been trying for a week now to connect my WM7 device to WMDC.
This was the procedure I followed-
* Uninstalled Active Sync
* Removed the Microsoft Security Update KB 956572
* Uninstalled Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and Platform Builder for
Windows Mobile 5.0
* Installed Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and SP1
* Disabled firewall and uninstalled Cisco VPN client
* Installed WMDC on a Windows XP Professional Version 2002 machine
(service pack 2)
* Connected a USB cable from the PC to a WM7 device
WMDC connected to the target first time after installation, but
thereafter did not connect. IT shows an error (rapimgr error 8) every
time I try to connect.

Also, the device never appears under Device Manager->Network
Adapters.

It either appears under Device Manager->Portable Devices->Smartphone,
or

under Device Manager->Windows CE USB Devices->Micosoft USB Sync
(Please note that a WM 6.5 device is easily detected under Network
Adapters and also by WMDC, this problem occurs only on WM7 devices.)
Can someone please suggest what I can do to make the device connect?
