I haver bought a new laptop with Vista, and there is no way I can connect my
JasJar (running WM5) to it.

I have updated to WMDC 6.1, but no changes.

I have uninstalled, and when I re-attach the PDA, the installation happens.
My firewall tells me it tries to start up the WMDC program, but nothing else
happens.

I have turned off my firewall completely several times and retied - no joy.
It is not the firewall.

In the Sync Cemter there is only 'Offline Files' and 'SQL Server 2005' as
options. No mention of mobile devices, so I cannot try to connect that way.

I can't seem to find this particular problem on the web - can anyone give me
some tips to troubleshoot?

Jerome

Hi Jerome,

Try loading the WMDC (not the sync center) yourself after attaching the
mobile device and see if it does anything. When you connect does it appear
under the Device Manager?

I have loaded both, and the device does not appear at all, no.

Hi Jerome,

Although the page applies to ActiveSync its applicable to WMDC too, try
disabling the advanced network functionality -
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938323 and then attempt a connection.

I do not have the'USB to PC' item in my connections tab. Everything there is
to do with wireless LAN or GPRS connections.

I am dubious that it has anything to do with the PDA as it worked prefectly
with my other XP systems once set up.
