Hello,

When we try and connect our device via USB to a vista PC (using the
Windows Mobile Device Center) we get an error indicating the Windows
Mobile 2003 based connection stopped working. The log file indicate an
APPCRASH in svcgost.exe_WcesComm version 6.0.60000.16386 ion module
wcescomm.dll, version 6.0.6783.0.
The exception code is 0xc0000005, offset error 0x0000460.
The application log file show "Windows Mobile legacy device
connectivity service started" for both WcesComm and RapiMgr, followed
by the application error.
The vista PC shows the Mobile Device in device manager, and it uses
the Microsoft USB Sync driver (version 6.0.6783.0)
When we use the same device to connect to Activesync, everything works
perfectly.
Can someone give me any pointers what could be wrong? Do we need a
specific driver to connect our device to WMDC?

Device information :
- Windows CE.NET 4.2 based device
- XSC1BD USB Function (Serial Interface)

Thanks in advance,

Yorick Pieters

Hi,

Please upgrade to WMDC 6.1 from:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx
The version numbers you show are from 6.0.

I can't believe I didn't update to the last version before. WMDC 6.1
recognizes my device perfectly, and I'm able to sync my device with
the PC.

Many thanks!

I, too have same problem like many, many or all others. I have Mobile Center
6.1 installed but it is same thing. It was working for sometime but somehow
it got changed by itself and it no long wants to sync with Outlook data.
Screen on PC Mobile Center says it is connected but PDA is searching to get
connected for ever.
