I had no problem with my IPAQ1940 and active sync, but now on Vista home
premium and WMDC I can see the device in explorer, but cant sync calendar etc
and avantgo. Any solutions? I've tried all the help file suggestions...

Hi,
What version of Windows Mobile is on the iPAQ 1940? If it has Windows
Mobile 2003 then it should sync with Outlook. Avantgo requires you to
install a program from Avantgo in order to sync with it.

Chris:

I too have an IPAQ 1945 ... it says it's Pocket PC version 4.20.0, Build
14053. Is that Mobile 2003, or have I been left behind by Microsoft as I
suspect??

I hate this kind of "GOTCHA", where activesync isn't compatible with Vista,
and WMDC doesn't seem to recognize the device. I'll wait for an answer
before I waste any more time trying to get this to connect.

Thanks for any insight

Hi,
It should work according to WMDC's readme. See
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/wmdc/prerequisites.htm

I'd start by checking the software firewall in Vista to make sure that WMDC
is an exception. Also, I'd look at the services to make sure that the
Windows Mobile 2003 service is running.
