I have a problem setting up what Outlook items to sync in WMDC. All the
Outlook items are greyed out and underneath each item it says "Outlook has
not been installed." Outlook 2007 is indeed installed. I uninstalled both
Outlook and GroupWise, apparently there must be some sort of mapi conflict
that I'm not sure how to resolve. I then reinstalled both Outlook and
GroupWise, checking WMDC after each reinstall. Even with no trace of
GroupWise on the computer, WMDC still said that Outlook was not installed
and therefore could not select which items to sync. BTW, both Outlook and
GroupWise work fine together on the same machine as I've setup a second
profile for Outlook. I made sure to clear out any GroupWise entries in the
mail settings in the control panel during my troubleshooting...no dice.

This is a Vista Business laptop - Dell Vostro 1700.

Any ideas on how to get the pda syncing with Outlook again?

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom,

See if running fixmapi.exe helps solve your issue. You should find it under
the following location (Copy/Paste it into a explorer window or run prompt):

%SystemRoot%\System32

This is what I get when running the fixmapi utility:
"LoadLibrary: GetLastError =126"
What next?

I'm thinking this is a Groupwise vs. Outlook problem. In order to get
GroupWise working on a Vista box, I had to install it unconventially and
copy a different mapi.dll file over for it to work. I'm assuming this is
the root of the problem, which is not pleasant because the user relies on
both programs. I will try blowing away the mapi.dll file and then do a
sfc/scannow and see what I get.

Let me know if you have any other ideas.

Tom

Hi Tom,

Sorry but I do not have any experience with Groupwise. Since you mentioned
you suspected a mapi conflict, I suggested running fixmapi. If you are able
to resolve your issue, I would be interested in hearing what helped solve
it. Thanks.
