Hi, I have some basic questions.

A Windows Mobile device can be synchronised with up to two partnerships (eg
a homeVista PC and a work Vista PC).
What's possible here and what are the limitations.
Do you have to choose per item type to have it synchronized with one or the
other partner? Or can you even combine eg the contacts and have both contact
source synchronised to one WM device, w/o synchronising it back to the wrong
PC (= don't want private contact on the work PC).
Or do you have to choose: private contacts yes, work contacts no sorry not
possibel, and same decisions for agenda and tasks.

To limit the number of contacts that's synchronised, is it a good practice
to put the ones that are less important in submaps in Outlook, and will this
limit the sync to the contacts in the upper level Contacts folder.

Thanks for your input,
Ivo

Hi Ivo,

I am answering your questions assuming you are having a mobile device that
has WM5.0 or higher OS.

When you choose to sync the device with two computers, you will not be able
to maintain a separate set of contact. Both sets of contacts will be
combined and all three devices will end up having the same set. Therefore,
it is not possible to prevent your private contact from synchronizing unless
you decide to keep it in a separate folder. The reason - the device will
only synchronize the default Contacts folder. So any contacts which isn't
available here will not be synchronized. So use of sub folders is a good
option if you don't want to carry all the contacts on your device.

Sub folder synchronization is supported only for Inbox. It is not supported
for Contacts, Calendar, Tasks or Notes. Similarly, you can't maintain
separate schedules if you decide to synchronize Calendar with both PCs.

You can of course elect to synchronize any of the groups with only one of
the PCs. Not likely really useful to you, but you can.
