Axim X50v running WM2003
Desktop is running Vista Ultimate 64-bit
Latest version of WMDC loaded v6.1.6965
Plenty of memory on the Axim to store a new program.

I've lost the ability to install Pocket PC programs by running them on my
desktop and then having them install on the Axim. The process will run, but
when it tries to install on the Axim, the Add/Remove program box flashes
briefly and then disappears. It syncs fine with the PC, so I have
communication between the 2 devices.

I've tried doing it manually - WMCD - Programs and Services - More -
Add/Remove Programs. The same thing happens - the box flashes very briefly
on the desktop screen and then disappears.

I've resorted to copying CAB files to the Axim and running them from there,
but it's a pain. Also, some programs don't have a CAB file as an install
option, though I've found some lurking on my desktop under the installed
program there. That's possibly because the installation process failed.

I've re-downloaded and re-installed WMDC.

Hi,

I suspect the firewall is blocking the CeAppMgr.exe. Refer to

Also, be sure to run the installers elevated since CeAppMgr needs to touch
HKLM.

Right clicking and "run ad admin" didn't work. Switching user to the actual
admin account and right clicking on the install program *did* work. However,
I still couldn't open Add/Remove Programs in WMDC.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately, it didn't help. I tried turning off the
firewall and it still didn't install. I did check to see if the
CeAppMgr.exe was one of the allowed programs and it wasn't. I added to the
firewall's allowed program list.

I still was not able to install a program via the program's installation
program. Nor did WMDC - Programs and Services - allow me to click on
Add/Remove Programs and have it open. I still get the quick flash and then
the box disappears.
