I've used both the 1600 and 1800 with Comcast analog tuned with one tuner
and ATSC OTA with the other, it works as advertised. As for when the analog
transmission will be turned off in favor of all digital no one knows for
sure but the provider. I've read that part of Chicago Comcast area has
already made the change to all digital. A analog tuner can still be hooked
up to a digital receivers analog outputs regardless. You don't get HD that
way but you should get a pretty good picture regardless.

Any problems with Vista drivers etc?

I have two HVR-1600s and two AverMedia A180s in the same PC running Vista
and everything works as it should. I never install Hauppauge's WinTV app
just the drivers and the tuners perform well in Vista.
