Hi,
Jumping in a real noob here,
just recieved a Cingular 3125(smartphone?) for a belated Christmas gift, and
am brand new to Windows Mobile.
So, saying that, a couple questions.

1) does WM 5.0 have a full browser? cuz with my current WAP phone, it says
Java but some websites say I need to enable Javascript, but don't have that
in browser settings on this older phone (not a smartphone-a Cingular LG
CU400-with web access)

2) Noticed in browsing some other newsgroups; people talking about memory
leakage with WM 5.0. If this is an issue, is this being addressed by MSFT?

2.5) Are there many applications for WM5? (specifically an anti-virus)

3) Is this the correct NG for WM 5 issues?

:-)

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Jeff

Hi Jeff, welcome to Windows Mobile, I hope you are enjoying the 3125 which
is indeed a Smartphone. As for your questions:

1. It depends on your definition of a 'full browser'. I'm not familiar
with the device you had before, but I think you will certainly find it to be
a much richer experience than you had with your old WAP browser. In general
it should be a similar experience to IE on the desktop but without full
support for some scripting and applets. It varies between sites, but for
the majority I'm sure you'll be impressed.
2. Without knowing what specific issues you're referring to, I can't really
say. Unfortunately even with that information I couldn't comment on any
work being done to address specific issues.
2.5. I think you'll find there is a lot of software currently available for
WM5.0, searching on 'Windows Mobile Smartphone Software' is a great way to
start.
3. This is one of many great locations! If you search on 'Windows Mobile
Forums' you should be able to find a few other good locations (some more
active than others).

Hope this helps!

I have been searching for a solution to this, but I still cannot find an
answer.

I agree that many sites do render quite well on the Treo, however,
JavaScript is not built into IE Mobile...is there a way to download this
capability or is there another browser that supports JavaScript enabled
websites on WM5?
