I just got my new Dell Axim X51v with WM5 on and have been having a play
with it.

Connected it via cradle, but would like to be able to sync via bluetooth on
my laptop.

Trouble is, no matter what I do I can't get the thing to connect over
bluetooth.

What steps should I be taking?

- Paired devices
- on PDA: selected Serial Port on Laptop as a service to usse
- on PDA: added an outgoing COM port to laptop (COM7)
- on Laptop: selected Serial port (SPP) 'Serial Port' on PDA as a service to
use
- on Laptop: in Bluetooth Devices on Laptop (under COM ports) it lists COM6
as an Outgoing port to PDA

First time I did this Activesync kicked in and started trying to connect,
but failed eventually with a generic connection error.

If I try to initiate the connection from the PDA I get a Bluetooth
Activesync error saying that it cannot find an existing Bluetooth
partnership with a PC that supports Activesync.

How can I get this working? I will use the PDA on my laptop more than a
desktop and so Bluetooth is a must as I can't carry the cradle around with
me!

Thanks

Hi,

Have you selected the COM port in ActiveSync on your desktop? (File ->
Connection Settings)

Hi,

Did you try syncing after performing a soft reset?

This needs to be done before pairing the device to the PC. ActiveSync should
show up as a service on the device. Please select it. It won't work if you
select Serial port on the device.
