Unlike a lot of folks in these forums, I'm very happy to report that I am
connecting and synching happily with the following array of equipment:

- a new T-Mobile SDA (= iMate SP5m) with WM 5.0
- an old HP iPaq 5450 with PocketPC 2003
- home PC: Win XP SP2, Outlook 2003, AS 4.1
- Office PC: Win XP SP2, Outlook 2003, Exchange Server 2003 SP2, AS 4.1,
Server ActiveSync, wireless ActiveSync
- Partnerships set up with both PCs; server ActiveSync for office PC,
regular AS for home PC

Everything works well with everything else. Or it seems to.

Here's what I'd like to do, which is not working quite right. In due course,
I'd like to phase out the older PPC altogether. I want my data on the
Exchange server, and my PST file at home on Outlook, to be in sync in every
way except e-mail. I.e. contacts, calendar, tasks, favorites etc should be
identical between home and office. Any changes on one should be reflected in
the other.

I'd like to sync office mail only to the SDA, and to retrieve remotely.
Also, I can get/send personal e-mail via Hotmail and the T-Mobile helper
application jus fine, so no need to sync 2 Outlook inboxes.

What I am doing now with the SDA is:
- at home, synching via Exchange for contacts, calendar, tasks and e-mail,
and via PC partnership for everything else (favorites, files, media)
- at office, synching via Exchange for contacts, calendar, tasks and e-mail,
and via PC partnership for everything else (basically, favorites)

Problem is, I seem to get occasional or recurring mis-syncs - that is,
calendar entry dupes, work-originating Outlook invitations being redone with
my home e-mail as the originator, and so on.

I realize this is pretty complex and esoteric, but is there anywhere I can
go to see a few advanced examples on how to make this all work? I figure
there has to be a way to sync across 2 PCs with Exchange thrown in, and
essentially use the phone as the tool that keeps the 2 PCs - home and work -
in perfect synchronization.

I guess I've been lucky with connections and configuration. The SDA is an
incredible little device that seems to do everything.

Thanks in advance for any ideas....

Hi,
It looks like you've been thinking about this for awhile. I think it will
work fine based on my experience.

With WM 5.0 you can sync both Exchange and Outlook for calendar and contacts
while you can't do that with the older devices.
