I seem to have the opposite problem to most... I can sync my WM5.0 handset
with my Exchange server over the air via GPRS with no problems but I can't
sync it when directly connected to the PC. I receive an error message on the
smartphone "Your Internet connection is not configured properly. Please
verify your settings in Data Connections." and in ActiveSync "Exchange
Server: The server cannot be reached. This can be caused by temporary
network problems. Support code 85002003 ". I can browse the contents of the
Smartphone from the PC and sync files to it, I just cant sync with the
Exchange server from the handset. In addition, when I open Pocket Explorer
whilst connected to the PC via the USB cable, it still tries to use the GPRS
connection which makes me think it is a connection settings (work/internet
etc) issue but I've seemingly tried every possible combination to get it to
work but failed.

Some details-

Exchange 2k3 SP2
Selfsigned cert is installed on the handset
Handset is Imate SP5 with the new AKU2 ROM
Everything works perfectly OTA via GPRS
Can't sync via USB direct connect to PC

I have tried-

Turning SSL on/off (but this is not the issue as it works with SSL on OTA)
Trying just about every combination of work/internet in Advanced Connection
Settings
Using the public name, private name and IP address for the Exchange server
in the Server Settings

please help, I have way loads of data to back sync into this new handset and
I don't want to spend horus and $$ doing it all via GPRS!

thanks in advance

David, I am not sure this is your problem but you might try it as I can
create a similar but not the same support code by changing these settings.

File ... Connection Settings ... This computer is connected to:

Mine is set to The Internet and I can sync fine over the air and via
USB/Bluetooth. If I change that to Work, it will not work. Give it a shot.
