I posted this a couple of days ago in the phone_edition NG and there weren't
any takers, so I thought I'd try here...

I'm experiencing a problem with my system whenever I connect my phone to my
desktop. Whenever I connect or disconnect the system crashes and has to
restart.

Any suggestions on possible causes or trouble-shooting? It would be nice if
I didn't have to reboot every time get in the office.

Sprint HTC Mogul
WM 6 CE OS 5.2.1238 (build 17745.0.2.3)
ActiveSync - Ver 4.5.0 (Build 5096)
Client OS - XP Pro
SBS 2003 R2
Exchange 2003

Thanks

"Crashes" probably needs to be a little more-specific. You're getting a
blue screen? What data on that screen? You're getting a dialog box
indicating that some critical system service crashed and you need to reboot?
Details from that dialog? What have you tried? Uninstall AS/reinstall?

Thanks Paul, I'll try to collect the additional information. I appreciate
the quick reply.

I thought I'd post an update.

The message I was getting was a System Shutdown message box stating that
"Windows must now restart because the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service
terminated unexpectedly."

I was planned to uninstall and reinstall, but didn't have the opportunity. I
was connecting the phone with a USB cable through a USB hub. I was browsing
Bev Howard's site and noticed a comment about moving the USB connector to
another USB port.

I tried that and it seems to have been working without failure for the past
two days. I'll keep an eye on it.

It crashed again when I unplugged yesterday evening. I guess the next thing
to try is uninstalling AS.
