Group,

As I've been looking at various website and forums, I'm seeing conflicting
information about upgrades to Windows Mobile 5.0 for existing Smartphones.
Some are saying no upgrades at all while others are saying all will be
upgraded - a stretch if there ever was one.

So if anyone has any insight on this, I'd appreciate it. I've got an
AudioVox 5600 which is the main reason I began the search in the first
place.

Kind Regards,

It's entirely up to the device manufacturers to decide if they want to
upgrade the phones or not. There are business arguments for why they should
or shouldn't - so it's anybodies guess what each will do.

Hi Steve,

Yes, I'm fully aware of the OEM's making their decisions - same store over
in the P/PC world.

Thanks,

I think it is pretty save to say, that there will be no upgrades for devices
made by HTC. But who knows - maybe this will change.....

I think you should have used the word official in there.

I have seen WM on a XDA2....and I was very impressed. The guys that made it
even put a few extra features in there and ironed out one or 2 bugs.

I'm sure you can download them now if you want to...
