Ok this might sound strange but since no one has yet mentioned it; you
need to have Outlook running for the indexing service to index it. i.e.
open outlook and tell the desktop search to index now. It will then
index all the items in outlook.

David

Actually you need the toolbar to search from within outlook. WDS will index
Outlook with or with out the toolbar if you have your options set
correctly..

In Desktop Search Options, Indexing, make sure you have the proper Outlook
options selected.
I'm not aware of any Anti-Virus options that will stop you from indexing
Outlook but there is a Group Policy that will exclude you from indexing
Outlook and another to stop you from indexing the exchange server. So if
you are in cached mode you should be fine.

I hope that helps!
