Hello.
I cannot manage to get WDS to index and search might inbox/calendar/contacts
that reside on the Exchange server. My Outlook is running in "Cached Exchange
Mode". Searching in local personal folders (pst) works fine.

When I choose "Custom folders and e-mail locations" in the WDS Search
Options dialog, under MyEmail/Outlook the name of the Exchange folder is
prefixed with a black exclamation mark in a yellow triangle. When selecting
the folder WDS complains that one or more of the Outlook folders is populated
by an add-in program which can cause unexpected behavior.

I tried disabling all of Add-ins in Options/Other/Advanced Options/Add-In
Manager but WDS is still complaining and refuses to index these folder.

Can somebody help?

Thanks.

Check under both Add-in manager and COM addins...
It may be an anti-virus issue. Normally however, if you are running in
cached mode, depending on your AV software, this shouldn't be an issue.
Normally the mail is scanned before it's synchronized, or immediately after.

Also it would be helpful to know what version you are using. If you go to
Help and About for Windows Desktop Search the version number should be
listed there. Also if you go to Desktop Search Options and select General,
it's usually there too.

Thanks for the response. Some of the info you requested:

I have the following Add-Ins enabled in Add-In Manager:
-Delegate Access
-Deleted Item Recovery
-Exchange Extensions commands
-Exchange Extensions property pages

I tried switching all of the above off, but that did not help.

Nothing shows up in the COM Add-Ins window though.

The version of WDS I am running is: 02.06.0000.2083.

The AV software used is: Symantec AntiVirus v9.0.3.1000

Cheers.

When you go in to Outlook do you see the triangle with the ! in your folder
tree view??

I ask because I haven't seen that before. Could you attach a screen shot of
that for me please?
I ask more from curiosity then anything else.. :)

Thanks,

Jeff

If you are installing this on a Work PC/Laptop, your IT may have set
group policies to NOT allow untrusted toolbars to be installed onto
Outlook.

I had the same issue. WDS was installed. MSN Search Toolbar was
installed. However, nothing indexed in OL and no toolbar was in OL.
The toolbar needs to be in OL to index OL emails, etc.
