Has anyone else experienced issues with the explorer.exe process crashing
when attempting to use the classic Windows Search (default OS search feature)
on WXP SP2. I have the full MSN Search Toolbar + Windows Desktop Search
installed (v. 2.05.0001.1119). Sure, I could just use the Desktop search
feature, expect for those cases where I need to search for a file not indexed
by WDS, or a file that I _just_ misplaced, or when someone else uses my PC
and choses not to use WDS.

Regardless of how I try to use the classic Windows search, it always fails
on the first attempt (after a fresh boot). The result is always the same,
regardless of which PC I use (even in my Virtual PCs!) -- explorer.exe
crashes ("Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting
module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000." - not very
helpful) & Windows complains about Data Execution Prevention (DEP) being the
cause of having to close this process.
a. Start menu, Search -- explorer.exe immediately crashes
b. Open Windows Explorer or My Computer, click on the Search magnifying
glass icon -- same result
c. Windows key + 'F' -- still the same result

After explorer.exe is restarted I can successfully use the classic Windows
search feature without further incident. However, due to several startup
programs that are associated with the initial explorer.exe instance, they are
no longer loaded when the first instance of explorer crashes. Sure, I could
manually restart them, but out of mis-placed paranoia and laziness, I just
reboot - still time consuming and frustrating.

So, has anyone else experienced this? Could someone at least verify that
they can duplicate this issue so that I don't continue feel all alone in my
frustration? (I need validation!)

Other misc. details: OS has the latest patches/updates, no other toolbars
installed (anything else that I missed that may have an impact???).
I have also experienced the same issue with just the enterprise version of
the MSN Search Toolbar (no WDS).
I've also been able to replicate this issue with a minimal OS install (no
additioal apps, just AV) with the same results.

Thanks for any and all help,
- Brett
