Hi again!
Thanks to all for your time, however the problem continues. I follow
Jeff's proccedures in his 8/2/06 note, but every combination that I made was
useless. I installed the latest WDS and MSN Search Toolbar, and then their
respective MUI for Spanish. Not good. Then I tried to install the localized
versions (the ones that are already on Spanish without the need of the MUI
pack), anyway, it didn't work. Later I tried the same steps on three other
computers; a Dell Inspiron 600m, a Toshiba Satellite P15-S409 and once again
the Compaq Presario 5726. To my surprise it worked perfectly, even if their
"location" on the "Regional Options" section was not Spanish. The same I
tried for the English version, but having a Spanish country on the "location"
section.
Another thing I notice is that in the Presario, WDS's indexing feature
allowed me to find files seconds after it started, but in the Inspiron 8200
the result is always 0. In fact, as its index grew the files that were left
increased in large proportions after a sudden pause (no matter if the
prioritize option was selected). Strangely, the Presario is 500 Mhz with 384
MB of RAM, in comparison with a Inspiron 8200 with 1.7 Ghz and 1 GB of RAM.
As the Presario, the Toshiba and the 600m didn't showed any problems at all.
Also, I tried Franz suggestions, but the cc_pkg file doesn't give me any
information. It only shows a black screen with "Program too big to fit in
memory" both on the I8200 and the Presario. I also tried the Component
Checker Version 2.0 and it gives an UNKNOWN revision of both my I8200 and the
Presario. So I don't know if it is the MDAC issue. Once again, thanks for
your time and please keep the ideas coming!
