I recently bought Windows 2003 server enterprise (5cal) OEM software that
was sold online with no box or license sticker. Is there a way to check
if it is a legal copy? Actualy who is the owner in this case?
Software alows for updates and all other options.
Thanks

Uf

Here are a couple of things you should know.
OEM software cannot be transferred from the machine
on which it is first installed to be used on another.
OEM software is not supposed to be sold except when
accompanying hardware.
AFAIK if either of those are not met then the sale was
not a legal sale, but then, I am not a lawyer.
Also, since OEM software is always supposed to be
a sale of original material for use on its first and only
machine, I am not sure whether there are terms requiring
transfer of the packaging and COA label.

If you were able to activate, and can download software
that requires the "genuine" test, then quite possibly tests at
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine
would also result in passing, meaning that you may have
fully genuine, previously unused software (whether legally
sold or not).
