I have a windows mobile 5.0 powered Smartphone.

If I search, I find about equal references to Voice Command working and not
working on Smartphone's.

All the people who have it working seem to have software that has both a PPC
and SP software solution set. When you download the trial, there is just a
PPC software set.

I don't want to order the software and then have to ship it back because it
turns that my package does not include the Smartphone support.

Thanks

AFAIK, Voice Command is not supported on the Smartphone. It may install, as
the code base for PPCs and SPs with WM5 is quite close. It may even function
to some degree. The majority of SP with VC posts I have noticed were because
folks were asking about issues that needed resolving. My copy does not have
multiple cabs or options. It would not be the first time code has been
'enhanced'. It is also conceivable that some Smartphone code was created and
leaked, but was not finished or included in any real release. It is also
possible that some reports come from people not clear on the difference
between a SmartPhone and a PocketPC Phone Edition..

Don't know what else to say. The VC you buy from MS is not intended for use
on MS SmartPhones.

Please can we get a clear reply from Microsoft on this. I already own
VoiceCommand and have installed it successfully on an Ipaq4700 and a WM5
smartphone. I want to try it on an MPX 200 running SmartPhone 2003.

The documentation clearly states the following: "Hardware Requirements -
Requires Pocket PC or Pocket PC Phone Edition running Windows MobileTM 2003
or later software." The advert on Handago says: "Windows Mobile 2003 software
for Pocket PC or Windows Mobile 2003 software for Pocket PC Phone Edition.
Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition also supported. To check the version that
you have on your Pocket PC go to Start | Settings | System Tab | About. The
version must start with 4.2 to use Voice Command."

I have checked, and my Windows version is 4.2. However, when I try and
install the software ActiveSync reports that there is no suitable device to
install to.

Is the issue possibly a problem with ActiveSync? I have now upgraded to 4.2
(to support my WM5 device), and the Voice Command documentation relates to
3.7.X. If so, is there any way to fix this, or to manually deliver and
install the CAB file?

Thanks
Andrew

Unlikely.... especially not via the public forums.

You might, however, repost at microsoft.public.speech.mobile where the
question has been asked and the ms vc people occasionaly there recently
have skillfully avoided answering.
