I had one of the very first MS SmartPhone SDK beta phones and asked for this
3 years ago. I just bought a new 2125 with Windows Mobile 5 and that
feature is not there so I am not holding my breath.

At least you can record voice tags for individual numbers.

I did find this product http://www.fonixspeech.com/pages/voicedial2_1.php

No idea if it works or not, but might be worth a try...

I have downloaded the Fonixspeech product, evaluation copy. Will try it for
some days, but it seems to be working fine! It's not as neat as MS Voice
Command maybe, but for just dialling Contacts, it works.

Greetings,

As other users have pointed out, MS Voice Command really only works on
PocketPC type devices not Smartphones. However, depending on the
manufacturer of the phone, some have more "voice command" capability than
others. I'm using a Motorola MPx220 with Windows Mobile 2003. It came with
a voice recognition that allows me to call anyone in my contacts just by
saying their name -- no requirement to record voice tags, etc.
Additionally, it allows me to speak a number that I want to dial or say a
command like "Calculator", and that application is launched.

Browsing the web, I came accross an upgrade for the voice recognition
software from VoiceSignal. The link is at
http://www.voicesignal.com/news/press/2005-09-19.html. I need to check now
and see if it's available for for my MPx220.

Ed
