On the official Vista homepage I see something that is pretty lame.

Under learn about features under Media Center features in Vista it says the
following:

"Take Windows Media Center to the next level and enjoy your favorite live
and recorded TV shows, movies, music, and pictures on TVs throughout your
home, with remote-control convenience using Media Center Extenders such as
Xbox 360 or a stand-alone Media Center Extender set-top box."

When you click on "stand-alone Media Center Extender set-top box" you are
brought to the XP media center extender page? As we all know now that version
1 extenders do not work with Vista don't you think this is a huge oversight
and not a good way to start of telling people about Vista and instead
confusing the average consumer?

So let me get this straight? Vista is now officially out and there is yet to
be one Vista Extender besides my XBOX360 that sounds like a airplane taking
off with the very loud?

Can Microsoft at least get the information straight on the site? I had heard
there was a going to be a trade-in program and was excited since I have 2 v1
extenders? Now that Vista has been released any news on when the trade in
program is going to happen? to me its already missed the boat.

WE WANT VISTA EXTENDERS NOW!

I'm not sure where you heard there would be a trade-in program, but last I
heard there was no such thing. Microsoft examined the issue, decided that
"V1 extenders will continue to work with the MCE box they're using now".

The V2 Extenders were announced at CES (some of them, anyway) but probably
won't be out until spring.

The only V2 extender that I am aware of that was announced was the one
by Monster. What other extenders were announced? Could you provide
more information on them? Links..etc.

thanks.

I'm not aware of any specific ones, just second-hand reports of various
companies working on them.

ok forget the trade in program then.

why do we have to wait for spring? Vista is out, 360 has been able to do
extender technology for maybe 1 year at least so where are the other
extenders? They were announced at CES inside a cloak of darkness, nobody even
mentioned it?

and the biggest question of all has not been answered, why does Microsoft
link someone looking at Vista media center features to xp v1 extenders when
they mention "stand alone extenders"? since v1 is not supported why would
they confuse consumers that want to buy Vista now?

Media Center Extenders such as Xbox 360 or a "stand-alone Media Center
Extender set-top box." links to
