I have solved this bug by getting a twin (therefore matched) tuner.
I tried to use two tuners - one card and one USB. Each tuner when used
alone works perfectly but when used together only one tuner tuned all the
channels, the other tuner reporting signal failure on about 30% of channels.
I tried to use the diagnostics (as shown in the Help) but they ar not present
for UK Freeview digital tuners. The problem is that the tuners do not
"track" that is they are "off-channel" relative to each other and Media
Centre only tunes one of them and assumes tracking to tune the second!!
This is just one of many multi tuner restrictions I have found (most of the
others are documented by Microsoft as "feature restrictions". Can we ever
look forward to multimode/multiband tuning, "Red" button support, and
text/data services all of which were available on PC's before XP never mind
Vista "Premium"??. Most of Media Centre works incredibly well, but the
missing features and diagnostics are so frustrating.
And finaly Vista is advertised as being able to use three tuners, but it
seems that this can only be done in the US with a mixed set. I actually have
three installed but have to disable the third (it's on my graphics card).
