Video stutter in recorded shows Fuzzy Logic 07-15-2008

I have recently built a HTPC and for the most part it's working great.
Unfortunately when watching recorded shows I occaisionally get a stutter in
the video. This happens about every 5 minutes. Any suggestions as to what
might cause this and/or how to diagnose the problem. Here is my system
configuration:

Windows Vista Home Premium
Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R Motherboard
Intel Core Duo E8400
Patriot 2GB PC2-6400 DDR2
Sapphire Radeon HD 3470 256MB DDR3 PCI-E
2xATI TV Wonder 550 PCI
2xWestern Digital AV-GP 1TB SATA configured in RAID 1
Samsung SH-S203B 20X SpeedPlus DVD-Writer SATA

I am running the latest version of the ATI drivers for my video and tuner
cards as well as Vista fully patched. I don't know if it's a recording
issue, a playback issue or some other performance problem. Any help would be
appreciated.

TIA...Bob

Do you have any problems when watching live TV?
Do you have stutter also when you play a recorded program with Media Player
instead of with MC?
What resolution are you outputting over what interface to what display?
When you say you have the latest drivers do you mean the latest from the ATI
Website(preferred) or the latest from Win Update(may be out of date)?
Do you have any stutter problems playing a DVD in MC?

I don't know. I don't use MC to watch live TV. I will give it a try and
report back.

I'm not sure how to do this. How would I watch a recorded show from WMP? I
don't know where the shows are actually saved.

I am running 1280x1024 using my ATI HD3470 to a 27" CRT TV with a s-video
connection.

I have the latest drivers from ATI for both my tuners and video card. I
haven't noticed any stutter problems playing DVD's but I don't do it very
often.

Does the audio also stutter when the video does? If yes are your audio
drivers also up-to-date?
