I have a user that recently bought one of the new AT&T Tilt phones.
He's running WM6. The very strange problem that we're having is that
he sees the activesync text messages in his SMS inbox on his phone.
He receives his email fine, but he also gets the text message from
exchange telling the phone to sync.

This isn't a showstopper, but its awfully annoying. Any thoughts?

Weird! IIRC, this is how Exchange over Activesync used to work in the dark
days before Direct Push, via a "silent" SMS, but I think WM6 doesn't know
how to deal with silent SMS messages properly. (My cell provider, T-Mobile
USA provides "push" POP/IMAP e-mail on WinMo devices via silent SMS
trigger, but it doesn't work in WM6- their "official" solution for WM6
users is to switch to Exchange!)

Is it possible (wild guess time- I'm a dummy when it comes to configuring
Exchange on the server side) that the Exchange server "thinks" your user is
using a pre-push WM device? (Direct Push was instituted with WM5 AKU2-
earlier WM5 and WM2003 devices used silent SMS triggers.)

Are there any configuration options on the server side for setting up
direct push for mobile users, or does server figure out by itself what the
devices can or can't handle?

Just for grins, if you switch the Tilt's sync schedule from "As Items
Arrive" to "Every 5 Minutes" (thus switching from Direct Push to polling)
do the messages stop? If so, do they come back if you switch back to "As
Items Arrive?"

I am going to try the sync every 5 minutes next week.

One other note, I've used the mobileadmin tool to reset his activesync
connection a couple times. Didn't clear up the issue.
