I've been using my laptop to plug it into the television for a couple months
now. Everything has been working fine. All of a sudden, a couple weeks ago,
every time I unplug my computer from the television, the size doesn't change.
My whole desktop is blown up to twice its normal size, and I'd like to fix
that.

Try this, open

Control Panels -> Display

Now change the monitor resolution manually. If you use the NViidia applet
or the Catalyst Control Center you can assign a keyboad shortcut that you can
assign a function key to change the monitor's resolution.
