This looks like a great smart phone except it only has WM 5. I'm stuck
w/Verizon coverage here, so my good smartphone choices are limited. Anybody
know if it's scheduled for an upgrade to WM 6?

It's not, and, AFAIK, the hacking community hasn't pulled it off
either. Verizon will be replacing it with a WM6 model, the 6800.
Sprint already has it (they call it the "HTC Mogul.")

WM5 isn't bad- if you can get the 6700 really cheap, go for it,
otherwise wait for the 6800. FWIW, I don't think the Q will get WM6
either- but the new Q9 has it.

i doubt there will ever be any upgrades for the phone OS, you will need a
new phone.

the Q9m had WM 6, and if it is as good as the Q is a good choice. if you've
only used pocket PCs, not having the touch screen takes a little getting
used to but the Q is a good smartphone.

Hi how are you doing, I just wanted to let you know that Verizon Wireless is
about to realest the Upgrade for free Windows Mobile before Christmas. I
work for Verizon Wireless and heard that rumor here in my office so don’t go
and buy a new phone yet. I have the XV-6700 model and I'm waiting just like
you to get the upgrade. So let’s be cool about it.
