Is there anyway to turn off Windows 2003's obnoxious prompt for "why did
your system reboot"? I need to have our servers boot and login as
administrator to run some third party applications. We lock the screen
after login so the security concern of someone getting to the console is not
a problem.

I don't have a problem with the shutdown prompt, just the startup prompt.

Thanks,
Mike Ober.

The only prompt at startup I'm aware of is actually the shutdown prompt
coming up because it didn't get a reason at shutdown (eg you pull the
plug) -- what's the Window title of your obnoxious prompt?

The shutdown prompt is disbaled via Group / Local Policy -- Computer
Configuration / Administrative Templates / System / Display Shutdown
Event Tracker -- you could try disabling it and see if that fixes your
problem.

Thanks - exactly what I was looking for. GPO is huge and sometimes I can't
find what I need.

Mike.
