Our CEO just got a new smartphone from Verizon Wireless and he would like to
be able to read and send e-mail from his smartphone without having to break
out his laptop to sync. I've gone through all of the settings, but it will
not sync with the Exchange Server. I even tried just having it only sync his
Tasks instead of his tirade of e-mail messages but it's still not working.

OWA is working properly and the OMA is working properly because I can access
OWA from any web browser outside and I can access the OMA using the browser
on his smartphone. I cannot, however, get activesync to work. I put in the
connection information as follows:

Server: Name of Exchange 2003 Front-End Server (email.companyname.net)
Username: User's Active Directory User Name
Password: User's Password
Domain: Domain Name

What happens is that the smartphone keeps saying synchronizing for about 5
minutes and then it stops and tells me that it had an error and could not
find the server. Is there something that I'm missing? Do I need to add
something after email.companyname.net? Do I need to open other ports on my
firewall other than 80 and 443 to get this to work? Any ideas are greatly
appreciated!

You may want to try to search the web for your answer. Here is one link
that may get you started but I know MS has a support document that I read
but I don't know the exact link. You need to make sure you have all of the
SP's installed on the server.
