Hi There -

Has anyone come across a 3rd party application that helps the terminal
services client built into Windows Mobile 5 on the Treo 700w utilize not
having to scroll so much. For example, I spend 90% of my time scrolling
around on that little screen trying to navigate to different areas on a
server when troubleshooting, Is there a program that will shrink it down
considerably (I have good eyes so far)?

Thanks in advance.

I would suggest reducing desktop resolution to a minimum. If full desktop
resolution (say, 1280x1024) is scaled to 240x240 you won't be able to see
anything no matter how good your vision is. You could try taking your
desktop screenshot and reducing it to 240x240 to get a preview.

Hi Mike,

Would you like to try using PTvncWM5 instead ?

You can view your PC in that at various scales -
choosing whatever works best for the task in hand
and it includes a fastmove option for moving around
your PC screen when only a small area is on display.

PTvncWM5 is available both to try or buy from
PocketGear or Handango.

Please also note that the Treo 700 uses the
Pocket PC Phone OS not the Smartphone OS !!

Here's what one guy who kindly agreed to beta-test
it for us in return for getting a free copy of the
release version:

"Thanks, Dave! I'm really inclined to buy it.
There aren't many products that I feel that way about."

bye

Hi Mike,

> Need any more beta testers?

Not any more - PTvncWM5 release version has been
available since about 20th December (from both PocketGear
and Handango to try or buy).

One thing anyone interested should know:
There will be an update shortly for those of you
with default portrait mode devices that have a
QWERTY keyboard below the screen so that
you will be able to view your PC in portrait
rather than landscape as is currently the case.
This update will be free to anyone who's
bought the program.
