Hello,

I have a Treo 700w with Windows Mobile 5.0 on Verizon EVDO

Internet works fine.
Hotmail works fine.

however, I cannot get Exchange/outlook wireless sync to work.

under Exchange server, I put mail.my.com, ticked require ssl, and set my
username, password and domain.
I used the same steps on Windows Mobile 2003 second edition and it works by
pulling but what about Windows Mobile 5.0? how do I get this device to get
emails? DO I have to establish a vpn first?

I copied a certificate to the device. What am I missing?

Makes you really appreciate RIM devices as they are not this difficult to
setup.

What error messages are you seeing? Have you entered your device's
e-mail address and schedule into ActiveSync (Menu -> Schedule)?
Ensure that "As Items Arrive" is selected, and tap on the bottom link
to set up the e-mail address.

Note that the 700w does not yet have the push e-mail that is in the
Messaging and Security Feature Pack (MSFP), which doesn't require
setting a schedule or entering an e-mail address for the device.

Rob,

I am having similar issues.... I have a Treo 700w with Windows Mobile 5.0
on Verizon.

I have got hotmail, my isp account, and a pop3 account to work. And can
also sync my other pop3 (whici is my outlook account) using the Verizon
provided sync product to my Treo. However, I can't get ActiveSync to work
between my device and my PC. Here's what I've tried, based on various
otgher articles I've read:

- removed Business Contact Mgr - didn;t really use it so no problem
- reinstalled Office 2003 due to corruption caused by BCM
- removed and reinstalled activesync 4.1
- repaied activesync 4.1
- reconfigured persoanl firewall to allow the 3 activesync programs to
pass thorugh
- installed Avantgo - don't see why other than it is going to push me
stuff I don't want
-removed and reinstalled activesync 4.1
- already performed action you suggested below at some point above

The Active sync connect starts, then sits for a while displaying 'looking
for changes' then eventually, after about 5 minutes, a window pops up with
the 'combine or replace' options. Regardless of which of the 3 options I
select, an error message is immediately displayed. There is no error code,
but the title of hte box is 'Microsoft ActiveSync' and the content is:

"Synchronization cannot be completed successfully. Reconnect your device
and try again. If the problem persists, see the Microsoft ActiveSync
Troubleshooter in Microsoft Activesync Help on your desktop computer"

Any ideas?? I love my Treo, I love the concept, but this is far too much
of a pain. I've spent over 2 weeks messing around with this and I'm
disappointed with the entire process.

What firewall program are you using? Have you tried disabling it
completely, then trying to sync? Personal firewalls are the biggest
problem with ActiveSync, since ActiveSync uses standard TCP/IP to
communicate to the computer.

Hi,
The Verizon mail client conflicts with ActiveSync. Have you tried stopping
it while you sync?
