The Treo 700w in question has worked fine with a BMW in the hand-free mode
until the same device was used to demo the functionality in a Mercedes.
After that point the BMW constantly requests the phone on the Treo to be
activated. The phone is activated. The 700w will almost always generate an
error report (crash) and it points to "services.exe". Poking around network
settings will often get the Treo to generate a crash report which also
points to "services.exe".
The process:
- Turn on BMW
- Turn on Treo
- Devices locate each other and the users name on the Treo appears on
the BMW's computer display
- Long wait and BMW requests the phone to be activated -- which it is.
- Treo crashes generating a crash report pointing to "services.exe" each
and every time
A few questions:
1) Can I replace the "services.exe" file which seems to be the source of the
problem? If so, how?
a) bonus question: how did "services.exe" get messed up and how could I
determine that on my own?
2) Soft resets have not fixed the problem. Would a hard-reset solve the
problem?
3) Any other help or links to read would be much appreciated
