I've accepted the fact that until I upgrade our Exchange server to 2003
SP2, we won't be doing any ActiveSyncing via the server, but only from
the PC.
But that's not the worst of my problems...

I'm having a really hard time getting Messaging to work, however, using
Outlook on the Treo. Is there a way to configure Outlook Mobile to use
an Exchange server, or is my only choice to set one up as an IMAP4
server type?

Using Imap4, I was able to get the Treo to receive new mail, but when I
attempt to SEND mail, it disappears into the ether, or just doesn't go
at all.

<griping>
I had hoped that Windows Mobile would be easier to configure and more
compatible with our environment than the Palm OS was, but this is so
far from the case that it's not funny. I am hugely disappointed with
the 700W "experience" thus far.
</griping>

Verify that you set up the mail client to authenticate when send email. Its
on page 4/4 of the server setup. Click the Options button and make sure
that Outgoing mail requires auth... is check on page 2/3. Also on page 1/3
set the interval you want to send and receive and set the connection to The
Internet.

HTH.

BTW, I have both Outlook E-mail set up getting email from my Exch 2k3 server
and IMAP setup getting mail from a clients mail server. Both work fine so
I'm sure with a little trouble shooting you can get yours to work.

well, I figured out how to use IMAP to get to the Exchange server.
After some googling and reading, I tried appending the port numbers to
the mailserver names with a colon.
":993" for inbound, ":25" for outbound, and I also noted that you do
NOT want to specify a "domain" when using IMAP (even if it is IMAP to
an Exchange server).

What a pain in the butt. Like pulling teeth to drill down and find the
info needed, then compile it all and implement.
