I have been using TomTom Navigator 5 with my Treo since TT Nav 5 was
release and I have great praises for the combination. I used it with
the Holux 236 bluetooth GPS device. I loaded my SD card with only the
maps of GA and FL because thats mostly where I travel. Its direction
and maps are pretty accurate, as much as you can expect from around an
ever changing and developing city like Atlanta. I was very suprise at
some of the new roads it found. It goes to show that the maps were very
recently updated.
I've found a few bugs with the App, like when a call comes in and the
phone switches over to the call. sometimes it won't switch back to
TomTom application. However, since upgrading TomTom with the latest
patch I'm not seeing these problems anymore.
The device will not switch to a bluetooth headset when a call comes in
if you are using a bluetooth GPS device with TomTom. You will have to
take the call manually or manually switch to the BT headset. When the
Treo returns to the TomTom app it has to reconnect to the BT GPS
device. sometimes it takes long to reconnect (about 60 secs or more).
But if you took the call manually without using a BT headset it will
switch back to TomTom and resume immediately.
The voice direction is quite loud unless you have the volume cranked up
on your stereo. My PDA holder has a built in speaker that I can plug
the Treo into for louder volume levels.
I love using it to find restaurants POIs and calling the restaurants
directly from TomTom.
High praises for the combo.
