AS doesn't come with any version of the OS. You have to download it, or use
the copy you downloaded before, or that came on the mobile device CD. (Same
goes for WMDC BTW)

If you just get your new PC setup the way you want it, and then connect your
Mobile Device, it will form a second partnership with it. That should
combine all the PIM info on the device with what you have on the PC. If the
PC Outlook is empty, it should fill it, as this is an initial partnering.

AS will recognize all the applications you have on your device, and you will
be able to de-install them, but you will not be able to re-install them
without actually running the original installation file. Any programs that
have a PC component, such as e-Wallet, you will need to re-install that.

Once all that is set the way you want, you can delete the old partnership
from within AS on the Mobile Device. Note you will get a message saying that
all items that are only associated with this partnership will be deleted.
Since all your items will likely be associated with BOTH partnerships,
nothing should disappear.

Unless you use some sort of system migration utility, none of the stuff will
just be the way it was. No guarantee that any particular thing would be
retained.

Personally I treat a new system as an opportunity to cleanup my mess, rather
than looking for a way to preserve it.

Many thanks Sven, appreciate your taking the time to spell it out so
thoroughly.

Hi Terry,

Sorry, I ate up the words -"operating system" while typing as Todd pointed
it out and Sven has outlined the steps you requested. Let us know if you
have further questions.
