I am running Windows 2003 server Enterprise Edition. I am building a new
server that will also run Windows 2003 Server Enterprise. Is there a easy
way to transfer users, shares, rights from on server to the other. Thanks.

Hi Tom,

Are these two servers part of same domain?

I usually do a backup (e.g. using NTBackup to *.bkf file) and then copy the
file over. Now you can restore the files and it will also restore the
permissions.

And here is how you can move your shares.

Saving and restoring existing Windows shares

I hope this helps,

Since you ask to transfer users, as well as shares and rights, I assume
these are two stand-alone machines, not sharing a common base of user
accounts. If that is so, then you have issues in that new accounts and
new groups on the new server will be new, no mater how you name
them to be the same as the old.

So, further question. By rights did you only mean NTFS and Share
level permissions? Or did you mean more?

Perhaps you should clarify what the environment is before we
go too far down the road of recommendations.
