It's a satellite A70
No recovery media is available so I need the drivers to install to a
standard xp sp2 install. Toshiba website doesn't seem very helpfull.
When going after drivers you get some drop down selectoprs to get to
the drivers.
type = portable ...yes easy
family = A70 ...yes easy
model = ????
this where it becomes impossible
at least 8 different a70 models are listed none of which look anything
like the "part number" or serial shown on the base of the unit....

How can I tell which set of drivers to use??
Its a pretty late model with a 3.33 ghz p4 256 mb ram etc etc

machine id codes are:
Product         Satellite A70
Version         PSA70A-0WF00W
Serial Number 15185637K

thanks in advance

The want the "suffix" on the model number. For example, I have an
A105-S2712. This should be on the label on the bottom of the laptop.
It's also on the box label, and on the marketing labels in the palm rest
area below the keyboard (if you have not removed these labels, as many
people do).

Start here:

http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_home.jsp

Then select "Tech Support Center", enter product (portables), family
(Satellite), Model (A70-Sxxxx). You need to know the "S-suffix" of the
model number. But, in fact, almost all of the drivers are probably the
same for all A70's (video is the most likely exception).

Actually he's right about the model number. I have seen a number of
Toshibas lately that only have the main family number on the bottom
sticker with no "S" number. M30X, A70, A60, M40 are some examples
along with the matching "5" models (M35X, A75 etc).

However, if you go to http://ts.toshiba.com and click on Express View
on the left you will get a window to enter the full part number from
the bottom of the laptop and a drop-down to select either Downloads or
Support Bulletins for that exact part number of laptop.

Oops, I just noticed his part number below. It is not a Toshiba
America model so that won't work on the Toshiba America website noted
above. However that option may exist on the website for whatever
country his laptop is from.

The letter after the "PSA70" part designates the country or region of
sale. For example "PSA70U" would be a United States model, "PSA70E"
would be a European model, "PSA70C" would be a Canadian model,
"PSA70J" is a Japanese model and so forth. I'm guessing his "PSA70A"
is either Asia or Australia.

Good luck,
