My friend presses FN and F1 to lock her Toshiba 4300. The same key
combination used to unlock it but no longer does. I have a PC and have no
idea how laptops and their key combinations work so I would be grateful if
someone would tell us.

Thanks a lot everyone

Hi

On my laptop (and many others I have seen) FN+F1 is the sleep mode (my
F1 button has a moon printed on it) and to recover from that I just have
to press the power button briefly......

Good luck,

If you've downloaded recent Windows Updates, this function might be
interferred with by the new Windows Genuine Advantage that seems to be
diddling with the operation of some startup applications as the function
key interface might be.

Try holding down the power key until the laptop does a shutdown, maybe
five seconds. Reboot and the problem might be solved, at least temporarily.

Alternatively, if you can shut it down, reboot into BIOS setup and see
if there is a setting to disable the lock function.
