Toshiba Satellite A45 Wireless problems Chris 12-24-2005

I have a Toshiba Satellite A45-130 and a D-Link 624 router with the
latest firmware. The laptop will lose all connectivity but
automatically reestablish it. This isn't a problem if I am working on
spreadsheets or in a wordprocessor, but it has already caused data loss
in Quickbooks.

The computer will lose connection to the internet, including web pages
and email, if I let the screen saver come on. I can still connect to
LAN drives when this happens, but the only way to get the net back is
to reboot.

Anyone have ideas on what is happening here? TIA.

Disable the screen saver and standby. I also found that unchecking the
"let windows manage this connection" (or something like that) and using
the D-Link software to setup the card, instead of letting Windows do it,
helped enormously with the dropping and reconnecting of connections.

Turn off power save mode in the wireless card properties. Check that
the radio power is set to anything but Auto, if there is a power
setting.

Thanks to Barry and Quaor for the help. I found there was a new driver for
the wireless card from Toshiba, which I downloaded. I also took the steps to
turn off the power saver. So far, so good.
