Sound pretty self-explanatory. Something about the new memory makes it
incompatible. I dug around on Crucial.com, Kingston.com and Toshiba.com
(which doesn't even have any reference for a Portege 3410CT, oddly enough),
and all I could come up with was the Kingston part number that is supposed
to be compatible with your system, which, of course, they've discontinued.
You might try searching the community forums at Toshiba.com or
NotebookReviews.com.
One other thing, it's possible that some memory setting in the BIOS could be
required for the after-market memory to work. Can you get into the BIOS, and
have you tried poking around there?
