I have a Toshiba M35/S109 that has developed issues with both
the USB and PS connectors. I would like to know if these problems
are common or unique.

The basic issue is that the connectors are out the back
of the unit so if you like to actually use your laptop in your lap,
the plugs for any devices get pushed upwards and start causing
problems. In the case of the PS connector you get spontaneous
and instantaneous power down, or the battery never charges.
The USB just stops working and you have to unplug and re-plug.

BTW - Toshiba warranty repair policies suck. If anyone has any
contact info at Toshiba beyond the (alleged) "Customer Relations
Manager" I would be interested in the information. Names,
phone numbers, addresses, etc... anything helpful would be
appreciated.

Oh yes Bob! One of the biggest complaints I hear about most laptops.

BTW - Toshiba warranty repair policies suck...

Yes they do! Although I avoid the whole warranty issue by purchasing my
laptops used and out of warranty (as they are far cheaper). And I also
do my own work on them. And all but one is still functioning just fine.
Including my Epson PX-8 ('84 vintage). I'm positive that I am way ahead
of the game by saving tons of money. Which some of it is used to
purchase spare parts off of eBay. That way I have them long before I
really need them. For example, if my Toshiba 2595XDVD ever fails. I have
a second one and removing two screws on each computer, I can swap the
hard drives within 30 seconds. No Toshiba shop can ever beat that
service! <grin>

Cheers!

Just a FYI.

The M35 is Toshiba built.

The M35X is Compal built.

The only thing they have in common is the first part of the model name.
