Hi

My Toshiba M50-106 has a problem on the screen. When i switch on the screen
is pink and after 2/3 seconds it turns normal. After 2/3 minutes the lamps
are switch off and I'm not able to read the screen.

I changed the inverter, the serial # ins K000027770 WK523K with a new one
but the last 6 carachters are different, WK714K. It doesn't work, same
problem !!

Do you know what else I can check in order to fix it ??

P.s. Sorry for my broken English.

Bye

Fabio

fabio, this is a classic symptom of the CCFL (tiny fuorescent tube
about the size
of a dry spagheti) dying out. lcdparts.com may have a replacement
lamp,
but be careful, they break easily if handled roughly.

Thanks a lot.

On the website there isn't a list of the lamps for my PC. I hope the can
tell me which one is what I need.

Do you know a place where i can find a user manual how to change those lamps
by myself ?

bye and 10x

Fabio

You may or may not be able to find a replacement lamp.

As to changing the lamps, the difficulty in doing this varies widely by
LCD panel model. The significance of "by LCD panel model" is that
Toshiba may have used multiple different LCD panel models in different
production lots of a single laptop model (in your case the M50-106).
Consequently, you know neither the part nor the repair process until you
open up your laptop and determine the LCD panel make and model.
Further, on some LCD panels, the lamp is NOT replaceable, and on other
models replacement, while possible, can be extremely difficult. [and,
not to be totally negative, on still others it is easy and trivial]

This is not an easy repair for most people who are not trained as laptop
technicians to make on their own.

I agree with Barry. Just for reference, here's a link on how to do
this
replacement on a Thinkpad 600 series laptop:
