I have version 02.05.0000.1082 on this machine and an update that was
installed on 10/11/2005. Another computer has the same version but an update
that was installed today.

I don't recall being asked to take any action for these updates. Are they
automatic? If it's auto, why hasn't this machine been updated? This is the
primary machine and is on all the time. The other machine is a backup and is
used infrequently. I just turned it on today to get the latest critical
updates.

TIA,

Wayne

Minor updates appear to be pushed during inactivity periods during a periodic
check for updates. Larger updates will cause a "toast" to appear offering the
update. Updates will arrive at different times on different computers. Last
week's Windows Updates did not get offered to me until Friday on a few computers
here, for example, while another computer was offered the update Wednesday.

Steve,

I get careless and inattentive once in awhile post to 'Reply' rather than
'Reply Group'. I'm really sorry about posting my last question directly to
your mvps address. There may be others that my question and your reply could
help.

At any rate, thanx for the reply and I think your suggestion will do the
trick if I remove the earlier version of the screen saver and install the
newer version.

Do you know if the Check for Updates option under Help will override this and
get the latest version (kind of like the regular Windows Update?)
Or do they have to be "pushed" form MS side?
