I've recently obtained one of each. They came without hard drives and
I have one for each. I do not, however, have a media slice or docking
station for either. Nor do I have an external floppy or cd-rom drive.
I do have, however, a hard drive enclosure that I can connect to my
Evo. I searched the past posts and have seen numerous references to
installing an OS onto a HD in this situation but no clear
instruction.

The HD shows up fine under my Windows XP machine and gives me the
option of formatting under disk manager. I can choose either fat32 or
ntfs. I can also assign drive letters of E: and above. I can also make
a partition active.

Is there a site that details what should be done or can someone offer
install-for-dummies? I intend on installing Windows 2000 Pro since
that's the COA on the X20. I have the cd and presume I can copy it to
a small partition on the hard drive for later use.

Thanks to all who might be willing to contribute.
