This thinkpad has been working fine except I could boot from a bootable
CDR in the DVD drive. Wanted to check the Startup Boot order so I
entered BIOS SETUP. Found the Boot order, moved the CD_ROM entry to top
and it had a [!] in front of CD_ROM. I decided I did not want to make
any changes to BIOS at this time. I think ESC and F3 should let me exit
without saving changes I made. Pressing F3 and ESC numerous times brings
me to the top menu but it won't let me EXIT BIOS!

Is Thinkpad forcing me to do a SAVE and EXIT since I did make changes to
STARTUP/BOOT order?

In BIOS does [!]CD_ROM entry
mean the CD-ROM is enabled for BOOT or is disabled? I want to be able to
boot from CDRs and DVDs.

What is device IBA 4.1.07 Slot 0240 in the boot order list?

Is it's order critical for Startup?
and now I cannot exit BIOS Setup with ESC or F3 keys.

I am very unfamiliar with this Thinkpad so excuse beginners questions.
I'd prefer not to do a SAVE and EXIT and alter the BIOS right now.
Need help to exit BIOS without doing a SAVE if possible.

Thanks, Dave_s

Try a three point landing, Ctrl + Alt +Del, for a reboot. It
works on y T-23. If that does not work then;
Pull the power plug and remove the battery.

If you have not saved the BIOS setting then it is not saved.

If you don't want those changes, fine. Just save the changes anyway,
reboot, go back into bios, and reverse the changes. Reboot again.
Done deal.
