Hi

I'd like to flash the BIOS of my IBM ThinkPad 600E. This is necessary
to install Win2000 or XP.

The flashing program asks for a charged battery, but mine is like dead
and I don't really want to buy a new one just for a 2-minute use for
the flashing process (I know I'll never use the thing on battery).

Is there any manner to circumvent this, i.e. to flash it w/o a new,
charged battery, just on the mains? I tried to simulate the battery
with a 10.8V power supply, etc...no result yet.

Any trick or idea for this? Thanks a lot in advance!

I'd try listing the text in the bios update file.
One laptop needed the option /FORCEIT to flash without
the battery. Don't remember which laptop it was,
but wasn't a thinkpad.

That is Dell. Does not work on TP's.

I do not know about that but if you find a way, make sure your machine
is connected to a working UPS before attempting the flash. However
remote the chances of loosing power, remember you would get a new door
step ...

I've read that some have hacked the BIOS update disk to allow the BIOS
update without a battery. I'll leave the searching to you. (Unless
you're fortunate and someone replies with the procedure).
