I'm looking for something similar to the Fujitsu P series. Something
small, lightweight. Is there anything in the PC (not mac) side that
directly competes with the P series? (P2110 and P1000)? I'm aware of
the Sony Picturebook series and they're too pricey.

Thanks!

Try P7000.
There is also a new "P" series Fujitsu in Japan (with 1.8" drive) - very thin
but
slightly bigger (battery...) with a killer screen, same size and resolution as
P5000/P7000 but rumored to be awesome color!

In Japan? Does that mean it will cross the big blue sea and end up on
US shores someday?
That 7k series looks nice.
I guess its time to start saving up!

Yeah, it will surely cross the Pacific - the Fujitsu P-series has a small (no
pun
intended...) but cultish following in the US. See www.leog.net for more details
and
the best source of info about these machines on the 'net. I'm a happy user of a
P5020 (an earlier model, slightly thicker than the P7000 series) and love it.

I'm very happy with my Thinkpad X40. It's roughly the same
size/weight as a P2000 but it has a considerably better keyboard and
bigger screen. On the other hand it has no internal CD-rom. I find
these days that I don't miss it. An external USB2 one works fine
when I need it, or there's a snap-on dock available with a CD bay.
