I have to run through the start>shutdown process twice to get the computer to
totally shutdown! I do not recieve any error messages nor do I notice any
other malfunction in the computer. The only change that has been made on the
computer is I added two new 500GB external hard drives and removed the old
external HD -- all three are USB connected. What do I do to get the computer
to shutdown properly?

I have the same problem/inconvenience on my HP Pavilion, so it's not unique.
I have searched just about everywhere, with no luck. I'm not up to paying M/S
$60 to find out how to shut down their software. Hopefully, someone out there
has found a solution that they are willing to share. Good luck.
